ABOUT PALAZZO MARIGNOLI

The Foundation is hosted in Palazzo Marignoli which owes its present look to the marquis Filippo Marignoli di Montecorona (1809-1898). He was a banker and senator of the Italian Kingdom, a well-respected numismatic, and the promoter of the building of Spoleto’s Teatro Nuovo the city’s main opera house and of the large palazzo on the Corso in Rome. In the palazzo in Spoleto, he commissioned a series of painted rooms by Mariano Piervittori, in particular those of the ballroom, recently published as his masterpiece. The artistic cycle is an outstanding example of mid XIX century taste in central Italy.
